Our story
Every piece deserves its occasion.
Some are still waiting for theirs.
There was a room in my grandmother's house that you could barely walk into. As a child, stepping inside felt like being lost in the mountains: everything towered over me, and there was no way through. The air smelt of fabric, and the room was always cold, the kind of cold that settles where things have been left and forgotten. Colours peeked out from every pile, and many of the clothes still had their tags on. The one I remember most is her coat, a deep cherry red, the same colour Aldona wears today.
Her name was Aldona. She lived in Europe, and she was rarely seen without a long skirt and a touch of red lipstick. She loved her clothes, but she loved her family more, and nothing made her prouder than showing off her two granddaughters. Above all, she valued loyalty. Her dog was never far from her side, and in many ways that quiet companion said everything about who she was.
She grew up at a time when good clothes were expensive and fast fashion did not exist. You looked after what you had, and you saved your best for a special occasion. It never came. After she passed, most of that room went into bags, and I still think about the lives those clothes were meant to have, and how much of her was folded away inside them.
That room taught me that what we own is meant to be worn, used and loved, not kept waiting. She showed me what loyalty looks like, and Aldona is my way of carrying it forward, with fairness for everyone who buys and sells here. That is why this marketplace carries her name. Here, a forgotten piece can find its next chapter, and the occasion it was always waiting for could be yours.
